Preview: Swansboro Pirates vs. West Carteret Patriots
Swansboro and West Carteret are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Swansboro Pirates will head out on the road to take on the West Carteret Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Swansboro has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, Swansboro beat Richlands 43-33.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Swansboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addison King, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Malaya Beasley was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, West Carteret beat White Oak 46-41 on Tuesday.
Sam Huber was her usual excellent self, scoring six points along with ten steals and six rebounds. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Holmes, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Swansboro's record now sits at 7-10. As for West Carteret, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Swansboro and West Carteret were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January, but Swansboro came up empty-handed after a 38-37 loss. Can Swansboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
