Softball Recap: Rural Retreat Comes Up Short

Rural Retreat had taken Holston down for five straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Indians fell 4-1 to the Cavaliers. The Indians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cavaliers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Rural Retreat has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Holston, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Rural Retreat is set to square off against their familiar foe Honaker at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 3.5, the Tigers 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Holston will face off against rival Patrick Henry at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
