Port Huron Northern got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Port Huron Northern is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Grosse Pointe South, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

Looking ahead, Port Huron Northern will challenge Croswell-Lexington at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Grosse Pointe South, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-0 win against Royal Oak on the 10th.
