Softball Game Preview: Newton Rams vs. Clarke Central Gladiators + Official Tickets

The Newton Rams will face off against the Clarke Central Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newton is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Newton came up short against Archer on Tuesday, falling 15-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clarke Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Alcovy by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday.

Alex Ozuna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Adriana Ozuna was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Newton's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Clarke Central, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 8-12.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Newton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game.
