Basketball Game Preview: Swainsboro Tigers vs. Jefferson County Warriors

Swainsboro has gone 10-0 against Jefferson County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Swainsboro Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Jefferson County Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Swainsboro, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Swainsboro made easy work of Savannah Christian and carried off a 48-25 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Swainsboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tonia Ricks, who went 9 for 20 en route to 22 points along with six boards and three blocks. With that strong performance, Ricks is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. A'Acaylah Murphy was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Swainsboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Jefferson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 57-28 loss at the hands of Northeast. The Warriors were down 45-18 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Jefferson County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Swainsboro, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.

Everything came up roses for Swainsboro against Jefferson County when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 66-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Swainsboro since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
