Football Recap: Frostproof Comes Up Short Despite Danica Loaiza's Big Defensive Game

Frostproof was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 30-6 to the Ridge Community Bolts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 35-12 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Despite the loss, Frostproof saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nataly Palacios picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made nine total tackles.

Frostproof wouldn't let Ridge Community keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force seven fumbles. Danica Loaiza led the group effort, picking up two of those forced fumbles all by herself. Palacios also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.

Ridge Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jasmine McCray led the charge by throwing for 169 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.9% of her passes. McCray also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending three passes in addition to snagging an interception. Abegael Benoit was another key receiver, picking up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Frostproof's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ridge Community, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Frostproof wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-6 loss against Lake Placid on the 4th. As for Ridge Community, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 39-0 defeat against George Jenkins on the 4th.
