Basketball Recap: Jaizahn Lewis Key Part of a Team Effort in Nighthawks Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Crossroads, Murrieta Valley was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Great Oak Wolfpack by a score of 68-58. The Nighthawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolfpack, too.

Murrieta Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaizahn Lewis led the charge by going 8 for 15 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. Lewis' evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Parker Steffen was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and five boards.

With the victory, Murrieta Valley broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-7. As for Great Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Murrieta Valley has already played their next matchup, a 64-57 defeat against Murrieta Mesa on the 10th. As for Great Oak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-50 loss against Vista Murrieta on the 10th.
