The Yuba City Honkers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bella Vista. Yuba City has struggled against Bella Vista recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Yuba City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alex Saavedra, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Saavedra has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Abhi Mehata, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Yuba City's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-13. As for Bella Vista, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuba City will square off against River Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. River Valley has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16. As for Bella Vista, they will head out on the road to square off against Roseville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
