Basketball Game Preview: Jay County Patriots vs. Wapahani Raiders

Two dominant guards in Gradin Swoveland and Camden Bell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Jay County Patriots will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Wapahani Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Friday, Jay County lost to Delta on the road by a 60-44 margin. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Eagles are ranked 44th).

Meanwhile, Wapahani put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 51-35 victory over Frankton. 51 seems to be a good number for the Raiders as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Wapahani pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for Jay County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Jay County was dealt a bruising 59-24 defeat at the hands of Wapahani in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Jay County, Isaac Andrews (who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points in addition to eight boards and six assists) won't be suiting up this time.
