Volleyball Recap: Air Academy Gets the Win

Air Academy hadn't done well against Palmer Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Kadets skirted past the Bears 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in September.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Air Academy who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-5.

Mae Magoon paced Air Academy's offense, picking up 16 kills. Magoon got some help from Jiselle Rodriquez and her 14 assists. Aurelia Matzelle controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

The win made it two in a row for Air Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-4. As for Palmer Ridge, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Air Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Douglas County at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Palmer Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lewis-Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
