Football Recap: Minford Comes Up Short

Minford had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it eight. They were outmatched by the Wheelersburg Pirates and fell 56-6. The matchup marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Wheelersburg, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.2 points on average this season.

Leading Wheelersburg to victory were Braylon Rucker and Elijah Brown. Rucker rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, while Brown rushed for 54 yards and three TDs on only six carries. Those 90 rushing yards gave Rucker a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Wheelersburg is set to take on their familiar foe Portsmouth West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Brown and Anthony Bishop.
