St. Dominic hasn't had much luck against Sacopee Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Saints will head out on the road to challenge the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. The contest will give St. Dominic their first taste of in-conference action this season.
St. Dominic is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Mount View.
Meanwhile, Sacopee Valley waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Flyers a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Hawks have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Keegan Thibodeau was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Silas Nielsen, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Sacopee Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Donovan Harvey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Sacopee Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
St. Dominic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sacopee Valley, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
St. Dominic came out on top in a nail-biter against Sacopee Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
