Basketball Game Preview: Calhoun City Wildcats vs. Chiles Timberwolves

The Calhoun City Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Chiles Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chiles took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Calhoun City, who comes in off a win.

If Calhoun City beats Chiles with 68 points on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Calhoun City came out on top against J.Z. George by a score of 68-56 on Saturday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Jaguars are ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Chiles entered their match against Ravenwood on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Chiles was dealt an 81-54 defeat at the hands of Ravenwood. The Timberwolves just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Calhoun City will have to keep a close watch on Gabe Parks and Isaiah Bundrage, a pair of players who had a big impact on Chiles' prior game. Parks went 7 of 17 on his way to 18 points and eight boards, while Bundrage posted 14 points and six assists. Those eight boards gave Parks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Medina, who had eight points.

Calhoun City pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Chiles, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-6.
