Basketball Recap: St. Francis Comes Up Short

St. Francis lost against Elk Rapids back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Francis Gladiators fell to the Elk Rapids Elks 46-42. While losing is never fun, the Gladiators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Elks are ranked 100th).

St. Francis has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Elk Rapids, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Francis will square off against Glen Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elk Rapids, they will challenge Charlevoix at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Charlevoix has won eight straight at home, while Elk Rapids won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
