Softball Recap: Woodstown's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Woodstown's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Maple Shade Wildcats. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Leah Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Wygand, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Grace Hitchner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory got Woodstown back to even at 8-8. As for Maple Shade, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodstown will square off against Millville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines are facing the Thunderbolts at the right time seeing as the Thunderbolts are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Maple Shade, they will challenge Palmyra at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
