Triton extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-10. They came up short against the Plainview-Elgin-Millville Bulldogs, falling 19-5. If the Cobras were looking for revenge after losing 8-5 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kimber Sanson and Tiana Bishop did some serious damage despite the final result: Sanson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double, while Bishop went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Sanson's first of the season. Christine Pearson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
As for Plainview-Elgin-Millville, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-16. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Plainview-Elgin-Millville's side, Emalin Ball made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Ball was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Gloria Welke was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anika Steele, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Triton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-5 win against Medford on the 11th. As for Plainview-Elgin-Millville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-1 defeat against Wabasha-Kellogg on the 12th.
