Preview: Litchfield Purple Panthers vs. Carlinville Cavaliers

Two dominant players in Victor Mcgill and Dom Alepra are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Litchfield Purple Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Carlinville Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Litchfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 26 points or more this season. They blew past East Alton-Wood River 70-36 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-19.

Meanwhile, Carlinville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They ended the year with a bang, routing Gillespie 62-36. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Carlinville has managed all season.

Carlinville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alepra, who scored 23 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Smith, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Litchfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Carlinville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-6.

Litchfield strolled past Carlinville in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 59-41. Will Litchfield repeat their success, or does Carlinville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
