Basketball Recap: Valley Starts off Right with Win over Lafayette

Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They snuck past the LaFayette Bulldogs with a 55-50 win. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 57-38 loss the last time these two teams met.

Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Azerion Jennings, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 18 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Jennings a new career-high. Brayden Bunn was another key player, putting up seven points and ten rebounds.

Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

LaFayette now has a losing record of 2-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Valley beat the Bulldogs by a score of 55-50 later that day.
