Basketball Recap: Humphreys County Takes a Loss

Humphreys County extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-3. They took a hard 52-37 fall against the Leake County Gators. The Cowboys were not able to make up for their loss to the Gators from their previous meeting back in December of 2021.

As for Leake County, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 59.0 points this season.

Leake County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja'Quailyn Pippen out in front who shot 69% from the field to rack up 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Harrell, who posted eight points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds.

Looking ahead, Humphreys County will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Simmons at 7:00 p.m. As for Leake County, they will host Velma Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gators will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
