Softball Recap: Independence Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Paul VI, Independence was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the South Range Raiders 3-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Blue Devils as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lila Manfredonia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Paige Priebe, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for South Range, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Independence will venture away from home to face off against New London at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Range, they will welcome Poland Seminary at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
