Basketball Recap: North Buncombe Takes a Loss

North Buncombe was the 88-68 winner over Erwin when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The North Buncombe Black Hawks took an 86-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Erwin Warriors on Thursday.

When it comes to explaining why North Buncombe lost, don't look at Cole Edmonds. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points and eight rebounds. Edmonds' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Trent Clark was another key player, going 8-for-16 to rack up 20 points.

Even though they lost, North Buncombe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Carson Wallace continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Erwin, almost dropping a double-double with 34 points and nine boards. Wallace has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Rymer, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 20 points.

North Buncombe's record now sits at 14-10. As for Erwin, their record is now 11-13.

As of now, neither North Buncombe nor Erwin have any future games scheduled.
