Softball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Laney Tucker and Saylor Edwards Lead West Stanly to Victory

West Stanly's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls a 5-0 shutout. For the Colts, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Rowdy Rebel Bulls walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The result came thanks to Madi Whitley's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Saylor Edwards and Laney Tucker did most of the damage at the plate: Edwards scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Tucker scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three hits gave Edwards a new career-high.

West Stanly's record now sits at 8-1. As for South Stanly, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Stanly will host South Iredell at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Stanly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gray Stone Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
