Basketball Recap: Tampa Bay Tech Titans vs. Sumner Stingrays

The Tampa Bay Tech Titans fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Sumner Stingrays on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Stingrays by a score of 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Tampa Bay Tech has suffered since December 12, 2023.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emannel Pierre, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Maxwell Daley, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.

Sumner's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jabory Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nelson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Douglas, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Tampa Bay Tech's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Sumner, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.

Tampa Bay Tech will head out on the road to face off against the Longhorns at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Sumner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
