Basketball Game Preview: Summerville Green Wave vs. Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes

Summerville has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Ashley Ridge has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Summerville Green Wave will welcome the Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Summerville is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing James Island: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Summerville's way against James Island on Tuesday as Summerville made off with a 51-26 victory. Given the Green Wave's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Trojans are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Summerville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Molly Daugherty, who went 6 of 15 en route to 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailah Tucker, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Summerville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Ashley Ridge's strategy against Stall on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Ashley Ridge blew Stall out of the water with a 57-6 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-0.

Ashley Ridge's win came from a few key players Summerville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Skyla Tuthill, who scored 19 points. Her evening made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Briana Davidson, who had seven points and five steals.

Ashley Ridge's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Summerville, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.

Summerville came up short against Ashley Ridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 39-33. Can Summerville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
