Basketball Game Preview: Community Vikings/Viqueens vs. Mt. Pleasant Tigers

The Community Vikings/Viqueens will head out on the road to square off against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Community, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Community turned things around against Battle Creek on Saturday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 61-20 victory over the Grizzlies. That 41 point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings/Viqueens this season.

Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooklyn Yoes led the charge by putting up nine points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Yoes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Pearson, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points and three steals.

Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mt. Pleasant challenged Hughes two weeks ago. Mt. Pleasant lost to Hughes on the road by a 48-32 margin. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Community's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Everything came up roses for Community against Mt. Pleasant in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 64-31 victory. In that contest, Community amassed a halftime lead of 46-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
