Softball Recap: Hun Comes Up Short

Hun extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-5-1. They fell 8-3 to the Blair Academy Bucs. The contest marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

As for Blair Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Blair Academy's part, McKenna Osgood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Osgood has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maya Zimmerman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Adison Thatcher was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hun will host Peddie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Blair Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lawrenceville School at 4:15 p.m. The Big Red have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.86 runs per game on average), something the Bucs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
