Basketball Recap: Trinity Christian Find Success

It was a proper cat-fight when Trinity Christian challenged Stephenson on Monday. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Jaguars 62-59. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2019.

Parker Stanford was the offensive standout of the matchup as he posted 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Thomas Thigpin, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 10 points.

Trinity Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Stephenson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Antonio King, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Onyx Stallings-Brown, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine assists.

Trinity Christian's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Stephenson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Trinity Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-62 defeat against Lakeside on the 25th. As for Stephenson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-40 loss against Parkview on the 25th.
