Grant Park comes up short despite Kennedy Marcotte's dominant performance

Recap: Grant Park Dragons vs. Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers

The Grant Park Dragons's 20-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They lost to Gardner-South Wilmington on the road by a decisive 46-27 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Grant Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 703rd, while Gardner-South Wilmington is ranked 346th).

Despite the loss, Grant Park still got an impressive performance from Kennedy Marcotte, who scored ten points along with three steals and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Alejandra Maldonado, who scored eight points along with four steals.

Grant Park's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Gardner-South Wilmington, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Grant Park will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Milford at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Gardner-South Wilmington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Illinois Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Illinois Lutheran has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22.
