Softball Game Preview: Elkin Buckin' Elks vs. Watauga Pioneers

The Elkin Buckin' Elks will face off against the Watauga Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Elkin has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Elkin didn't have quite enough to beat North Stokes and fell 7-6.

Mackenzie White led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Byrd, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Elkin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, everything went Watauga's way against Alleghany on Friday as Watauga made off with a 21-10 victory. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Watauga got a massive performance out of Charlotte Moretz, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Chloe Caroselli, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Watauga's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Elkin, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
