Softball Game Preview: Canterbury Crusaders vs. West Nassau Warriors

The Canterbury Crusaders will be taking part in a tournament against the West Nassau Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Canterbury's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waverly Central on Friday.

Kaylah Berta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Canterbury saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cali Baust, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Baust is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, West Nassau won against Fernandina Beach on Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Warriors put the hurt on Bolles with a sharp 8-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Canterbury has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for West Nassau, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Canterbury couldn't quite finish off West Nassau in their previous matchup back in April of 2017 and fell 5-3. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
