Baseball Game Preview: Southridge Spartans vs. Brito Panthers

The Southridge Spartans will face off against the Brito Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southridge will be strutting in after a victory while Brito will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Southridge turned things around against Miami Beach on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hi-Tides with a sharp 8-1 win.

Meanwhile, Brito was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 7-4 to Coral Gables.

Brito got a good showing from Victor Encarnacion, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Encarnacion hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March.

At the plate, Cristopher Guzman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Brito: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Diaz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Brito's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Southridge, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
