Recap: Howells-Dodge vs. Homer

Homer had home field advantage when it faced off against Guardian Angels Central Catholic two games ago, but the team wasn't able to capitalize. No surprise then that heading on the road didn't bring a better result. There's no need to mince words: Homer lost to Howells-Dodge last week, and it lost bad. The score wound up at 56 - 15. The blowout was painful but not necessarily a surprise as Howells-Dodge is ranked 75th in the nation, many places higher than Homer.

Homer had a mediocre defensive performance in the first half, giving up 44 points. That put it down 44 - 3. As for the offense, it stepped up its game in the second half with 12 points, but the better effort was too little too late.

The win was just another feather in the cap for the still undefeated Howells-Dodge, who sits at 7-0. The loss brought Homer down to 2-5.

The two teams have their sights set on raising those records in their upcoming games. Howells-Dodge will battle it out against Clarkson/Leigh on Friday at 7:00 PM. Howells-Dodge has flexed it offensive muscles in its last six matchups, so Clarkson/Leigh has a real workout ahead of it. Meanwhile, Homer will square off against Winnebago this Friday. Based on the state rankings, we can expect a close game.
