Basketball Recap: Mcclave Skates Past Sangre De Cristo with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but McClave had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds to the tune of 69-22. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 24 points or more this season.

McClave was led to victory by Tuff Kelley and Myles Northrup. Kelley went 9-for-15 en route to 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Northrup shot 50% from the field on his way to 15 points in addition to five assists and four steals. That's the most steals Kelley has posted since back in February of 2024. Kielan Mallard was another key player, putting up 11 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: McClave was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

McClave is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. This is the second loss in a row for Sangre de Cristo and nudges their season record down to 12-11.

As of now, neither McClave nor Sangre de Cristo have any future games scheduled.
