Basketball Recap: Charles Alexander's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fayette over Pilot Grove

Fayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 74-65 to the Pilot Grove Tigers. The Falcons were probably out for revenge after losing 76-57 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Fayette lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Charles Alexander, who posted 19 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Alexander a new career-high. Blake Braden was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Fayette was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Fayette's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Pilot Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Slater the next time they take the court. Pilot Grove will head out to face Slater at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Fayette will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
