Softball Recap: Williamston Gets the Win

Williamston proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Bath Bees. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since April 28th.

Olivia Yadav spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Williamston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shea O'Neil, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Williamston is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bath, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williamston will host Saranac at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Bath, they will be playing at home against Springport at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
