Soccer Game Preview: Glendale vs. Crescenta Valley

The Glendale Nitros and the Crescenta Valley Falcons will compete for holiday cheer at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Glendale's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Arcadia by a score of 2-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Glendale's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Arcadia are ranked 857th).

Marlon Saravia and Erik Chatoyan scored both of Glendale's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Crescenta Valley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Burroughs on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for Crescenta Valley in their matchups with Burroughs: they've now won nine in a row.

Crescenta Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-1-2. As for Glendale, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Glendale beat Crescenta Valley 3-1 in their previous meeting back in January. Will the Nitros repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
