Softball Recap: Carson Senators vs. Douglas Tigers
Carson extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 9-16-1 in the process. They lost 17-3 to the Douglas Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 on Saturday.
Carson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cali Stagliano, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
As for Douglas, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for Douglas, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Douglas' side, Haylie Pledger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Pledger has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Gildea, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Marissa McLelland, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and one double.
As of now, neither Carson nor Douglas have any future games scheduled.
