Softball Recap: Watertown Has No Trouble Against York Institute

While Watertown put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for York Institute. The Purple Tigers put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 16-0 win. The Purple Tigers have beaten the Dragons the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dragons has come to flipping the script.

Kayla McGuire was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Wood was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Watertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Watertown's record is now 8-6. As for York Institute, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Watertown beat the Dragons by a score of 16-0 later that day.
