Baseball Recap: Saint Viator Comes Up Short

Saint Viator lost against Joliet Catholic back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lions fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 2-1. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lincoln Sernel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Saint Viator saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brock Harer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Saint Viator's loss dropped their record down to 16-16. As for Joliet Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Saint Viator beat the Hilltoppers by a score of 5-4 later that day.
