Football Game Preview: Central Valley Falcons vs. Live Oak Lions + How To Watch

The Central Valley Falcons will head out to take on the Live Oak Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Central Valley challenged Las Plumas on Friday. The Falcons were outmatched by the Thunderbirds and fell 42-14. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost four in a row.

Central Valley might have lost, but man, Drason Recio was a machine: he rushed for 116 yards on only five carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Blake Brizendine was in the mix too, providing the Falcons with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Live Oak played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Winters, falling 42-7. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 862nd, while the Warriors are ranked 422nd).

Central Valley will have to contain Ian Miranda as he made an impact in Live Oak's last game. He rushed for 150 yards and one score while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.

Live Oak's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Central Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Central Valley lost to Live Oak on the road by a decisive 41-26 margin when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Falcons, Tanner Tillotson (who rushed for 268 yards and four TDs while picking up 14.9 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
