Soccer Game Preview: Yuma Catholic vs. Thatcher

The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks will venture away from home to face off against the Thatcher Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Thatcher will be up against a hot Yuma Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Yuma Catholic was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over River Valley on Tuesday. Janessa Lugo was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Thatcher kept a clean sheet against Sabino on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Sabercats as they made off with a 4-0 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Sabercats are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thatcher has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 78 goals over those 13 games. As for Yuma Catholic, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
