Basketball Recap: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Princeton Vikings
Fairmont and Princeton squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Fairmont had to settle for second. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Princeton Vikings. The Firebirds' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Fairmont lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kaylah Thornton, who posted 19 points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 21 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Hargrave, who shot 50% from the field en route to 16 points.
Princeton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erin Thomas, who went 8-for-18 on her way to 22 points. Thomas continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mari Gerton, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 15 points and eight rebounds.
Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 22-3. As for Princeton, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 19-6.
