Baseball Game Preview: Lindbergh Flyers vs. Mehlville Panthers

The Lindbergh Flyers will face off against the Mehlville Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Mehlville will be up against a hot Lindbergh squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Lindbergh's pitchers stepped up to hand Hazelwood West an 18-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Flyers, who have now won four contests by 16 runs or more so far this season.

Luke Fisher looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Lindbergh got a massive performance out of Ethan Cantareira, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Politte, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Lindbergh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Mehlville and Webster Groves have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Saturday. Mehlville blew past Webster Groves 10-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Lindbergh's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.2 runs this season. As for Mehlville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Lindbergh took their win against Mehlville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3. Will Lindbergh repeat their success, or does Mehlville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
