Basketball Recap: Durham School of the Arts Takes a Loss

Durham School of the Arts was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the J.F. Webb Warriors, falling 66-43. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-36 back in January.

Despite the loss, Durham School of the Arts saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Faith Yon went 9-for-20 to rack up 27 points and four steals. The matchup was Yon's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Kaylen Mumford was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Mctaja Edmondson was a one-woman wrecking crew for J.F. Webb as she posted 17 points and eight steals. That's the most steals Edmondson has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jasey Lee, who had six points in addition to eight assists and five steals.

Durham School of the Arts' defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for J.F. Webb, their win bumped their record up to 9-10-1.

Durham School of the Arts didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-16 loss against Carrboro on the 14th. As for J.F. Webb, they have also already played their next game, a 48-41 defeat against Vance County on the 14th.
