Preview: Calvert Hall Cardinals vs. John Carroll Patriots
Calvert Hall is 2-8 against John Carroll since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Calvert Hall Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the John Carroll Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Calvert Hall suffered their closest loss yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Archbishop Spalding by a score of 54-52. Calvert Hall has not had much luck with Archbishop Spalding recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Brendan Johnson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Johnson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alijah Hamond, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, John Carroll was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 41-40 to McDonogh.
Calvert Hall has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for John Carroll, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.
Calvert Hall came up short against John Carroll when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 78-65. Can Calvert Hall avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
