Basketball Recap: Eddyville Takes a Loss

Eddyville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 52-28 to the Mapleton Sailors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sailors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-29 back in January.

Mapleton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucie Burruss, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Burruss is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Helen Burruss was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 10 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Eddyville's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Mapleton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Eddyville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-31 defeat against Pilot Rock on the 31st. As for Mapleton, they have also already played their next contest, a 43-31 loss against North Douglas on the 3rd.
