Softball Recap: Zane Trace Triumphs

Zane Trace took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Adena, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pioneers won by a run and slipped past the Warriors 2-1. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 13-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brynn Wipert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haylynn Boggess-Pierce, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddison Will, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Zane Trace hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adena struck out ten times.

Zane Trace's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Adena, they moved to 6-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Zane Trace is set to square off against their familiar foe Southeastern at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Adena will face off against rival Huntington at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
