Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Lamar

Lamar had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Baxter Springs Lions.

Lexy Stephen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Stephen was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Eddie, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Zavrie Wiss, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Lamar's win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lamar Tigers challenge Billings Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lamar is facing Billings at the right time seeing as Billings is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Baxter Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
