Basketball Game Preview: Redmond Mustangs vs. Mercer Island Islanders

The Redmond Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Mercer Island Islanders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Redmond took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victor by an 84-61 margin over Bothell. The Mustangs pushed the score to 73-40 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Mercer Island posted their biggest victory since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 63-36 win over Cedarcrest. The victory was nothing new for the Islanders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Redmond's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Mercer Island, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

Redmond was able to grind out a solid win over Mercer Island in their previous meeting back in January, winning 60-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mercer Island's Tristen Cruzen, who posted 23 points.
