Baseball Recap: Buckingham Charter Extends Winning Streak to Three

Buckingham Charter had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Foresthill Wildfires with a sharp 7-1 win. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 5-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Wyatt Griffin was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Griffin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Pederson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double was Pederson's first of the season.

Buckingham Charter's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Foresthill, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-7.

Coincidentally, Buckingham Charter and Foresthill will both be playing Valley Christian the next time they take the field. The Knights will host the Lions at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Wildfires will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
